I am a lawyer by profession. My legal career began in 2013 and since qualifying as an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2015, I have held roles both in private practice and “in-house” as a corporate legal adviser. In my role as an in-house legal counsel in the fiduciary and investment banking divisions of Barclays Bank South Africa’s (now Absa), I was involved in various corporate financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions advisory matters as well as equity capital markets transactions. On a daily basis, I engaged with external clients, drafted, reviewed and negotiated the terms of commercial contracts and managed stakeholder interests. I am currently an associate in the mergers and acquisitions team at Bowman Gilfillan, a leading law firm in South Africa. In my role as an associate, I conduct legal due diligences, advise on mergers and acquisition transactions and deal structures, conduct research on complex legal matters, draft transaction documents and legal opinions, and deliver presentations to local (South African) and international clients. As a result of my legal training, I am attentive to detail, an effective communicator, orderly, focused and thorough. I am a fast learner, a leader, a team player and having grown up in three countries, I adapt easily to change.
