Xolelwa was born in Mbabane, eSwatini. He grew up in Washington DC, Ottawa and Johannesburg. This has given him a world view and the skillset to be able to adapt to different cultures and people. He attained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Film & Television from the University of the Witwatersrand. Shortly thereafter he started his own production company, Blackweather. Through Blackweather, he has directed several music videos, corporate videos and a short film called Lost in the World. Lost in the World has garnered international recognition by being nominated for Best Short Film at Film Africa in London, as well as being selected to screen at the Thessaloniki LGBTQ Festival in Greece, and London Short Film Festival. Blackweather’s client list includes brands such as Rèmy Martin and Sony Music. Furthermore, he was selected to go to the International Film Festival Rotterdam under the South African delegation. Xolelwa made it into the second round of the Sundance Development Track program as well as getting into the second round at the Realness Screenwriters Residency. He is promoting a new film called Into Infinity which had its world premiere at Africa's first Comic Con festival. Currently Xolelwa is signed with Robot production house as a commercials director.
