I am an organized, self-disciplined and self-motivated person. I have worked in the financial services industry for 8 years. I decided to return to university in 2015 to complete my degree in Business Sciences with a major focus on Finance and Investment and the second major focus being Insurance and Risk Management at the University of the Witwatersrand. I completed my undergraduate studies in 2017. I completed Honours in Insurance and Risk Management in 2019 at the same university. I chose to pursue this qualification in order to sharpen my insurance and finance related knowledge. It was an arduous but fruitful journey as I was able to learn about Marine Insurance, Agricultural Insurance, Captive Insurance, Reinsurance and numerous other insurance concepts, some which I have had the privilege of engaging in in the work that followed. My latest role was at Momentum, where I was tasked with transformation within the Black, Coloured and Indian broker space as a part of Momentum’s pilot; core integration strategy. I worked closely with GEPF members and corporates that form part of Momemtum’s employee benefit schemes. I worked with Momentum’s full arsenal of products, ranging from life insurance to their offshore offerings. Before Momemtum I worked as a Financial Planner at Sanlam and received a few performance awards, including a certificate for being one of the top 100 newcomers in the country. The most recent awards being best newcomer,3rd position and 1st position for the first 2 quarters of 2018 respectively. My performance lead to 2 performance bonuses being paid to me in the same year. My central focus during this period was the State and its entities, with relationships formed with stakeholders such as PRASA, Transnet and the Railway Safety Regulator to name a few. I worked within the corporate space as well, with a strong foothold in companies such as Telesure and Discovery, based mainly on relationships created with former colleagues. Prior to that, I had gained extensive short-term experience, ranging from sales to administration. I began in the personal lines space mainly focusing on individuals and their insurable goods. I moved to the commercial space focusing on transportation and agriculture. I formed relationships with taxi associations, security companies and trucking companies across several provinces. Within the agricultural space I worked with individuals that would later be members of AFASA, and gained access to about 50 farmers across the country, most of them in Mpumalanga. It was at this time that I gained exposure to reinsurers and reinsurance applications and l realized how great the scope of insurance really is. I am eager and ready to learn. I am a dedicated individual with hands on experience concerning customer service, corporate communication, stakeholder engagement, sales, administration, computer literacy and a I have an excellent work ethic. I currently serve as a first-year mentor at Wits. I have a unique ability to absorb and translate information. I am able to work independently and as a team member. I am very flexible and able to pick up new concepts and systems with ease and precision.
