My name is Dr. Victoria Adeleke. I am a South African Permanent Resident. I obtained my PhD in Chemistry from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Masters of Science in Analytical Chemistry from Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Nigeria and BSc (Hons) Chemistry from the same department. My doctoral research explored both experimental and computational tools in the development of an alternative method for identifying skin sensitizers in order to eliminate the use of animals for contact allergens identification. It was showed that skin sensitizers can be predicted from experimental reactivity rate constant and other computationally derived parameters without resulting to animal testing. My research for masters was based on extraction, isolation and characterization of plant proteins (pigeon pea, Cajanus caja) in the area of Food Chemistry. I determined the proximate analysis and nutritional value of groundnut for my honours degree. During my industrial training at the undergraduate level, I worked with a research institute on water and soil analysis which also involved training of industrial workers on identification of chemical hazards.
