Unathi Nikani has thirteen years’ experience in community development and programme management/coordination, with specific expertise in: Programme planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation Stakeholder engagement and management(business, government and community) Social, Small & Medium Enterprise Development Training, facilitation and assessment Organisational Development (OD). He was Project Development Facilitator on Citizen Based Monitoring (CBM) under the auspices of the Department of Planning Monitoring & Evaluation-Presidency; Technical Support Manager and Lecturer in 4 Organization Workshops (OW); Programmes Coordinator and District Manager for the Community Work Programme (CWP) in the Eastern Cape (East London), Gauteng and later in three Districts of the Free State province. Key skills are: Communication, especially in community mobilization, Project administration, logistics and implementation, Qualitative & quantitative data collection, analysis and management, Report writing skills for funders, organisational and project reports. He was also a qualitative researcher and community engagement officer in Marikana post the Marikana Massacre under the auspices of the Mining Dialogue 360. He has recently used Asset Based Community Development methods in conducting community mapping in the mining community of Lesethleng in Pilanesberg under the auspices of Pilanesberg Platinum Mine. Unathi possesses good networking, mentoring, and community coaching skills, and is an analytical strategic thinker. He holds a Diploma in Development Practice (Level 5) and is an accredited Assessor of the Education, Training and Development SETA (ETDPSETA).
