During this period I accumulated a tremendous amount of experience in the construction and installation of structural steel conveyors and supporting structures (AWS D I.I) I have been in the Engineering QA / QC industry for approximately forty two years, servicing the Manufacturing, Plant In service Industries and Construction Project industries. It would be a great honour for me to be able to impart my experience onto those who have the need to learn about the QC industry. My specialities are as follows for Project Construction & Workshops. 1) Quality Control Management. A. Employ Inspectors with engineering backgrounds. B. Get to know their strengths & weaknesses. C. Changes made during the course of proceedings shall be “red lined” and be the cause for the drawing to be revised, and recorded, as such, in the register. Obsolete drawings shall always be withdrawn and be marked and filed as redundant. Only the latest approved revised drawings shall be in use at any given time. 6) Client Specifications. This is a document, referenced within the contract document. The fine detail is often overlooked, misinterpreted or even not conveyed to the work force. It is essential that the content of this document is fully understood by all team players and be implemented. 7) Welding Qualification Certification. Each component manufactured is governed by a local or international Code of Construction. It is the responsibility, according to the code, for the manufacturer to qualify the welding procedure and the welders prior to commencement of welding. This requirement should form part of the company’s (QMS). The company’s welding qualification, “Procedure Qualification Record” (PQR) is qualified in accordance with the “Welding Procedure Specification” (WPS) which is formulated in accordance with this code requirements. Once this has been approved the welding operator is then tested and qualified Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ). 8) TPI Inspections.
