To whom it may concern As a qualified and registered Medical Laboratory Scientist, specialised in the field of Clinical Pathology (which consists of Clinical Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Haematology) as well as being a part-time registered Master (MSc) of Biomedical Technology student, I present with sufficient knowledge of the Medical Laboratory/Clinical Laboratory field with an additional interest in the academic and theoretical aspect of this particular field. I spent more than a year in the Clinical Haematology department, where root-cause analysis and troubleshooting were experienced hands-on and taking initiative to solve specific problems went hand-in-hand with identified problems. Currently, I am working in the Clinical Microbiology department (specifically Molecular Biology) where I am actively involved in COVID-19 RT-PCR testing. Furthermore, I am always willing and eager to undergo further training, if necessary, and improve my knowledge and skillset, aiding me in the current advertised job position as well as in the future, where I can continue to perform optimally. I am adaptable to different situations, with a goal-orientated approach and ability to multitask, whilst managing time parameters efficiently which aids in prioritising and performing administrative tasks. Being a perfectionist comes to my aid in this profession, as I have an eye for detail and will ensure a high-quality product being produced. Having both creative and logical thinking capabilities, ensures that I can think about a situation in two different ways and still deliver an end result that is satisfying. Other than being a quick learner and able to efficiently apply newly learnt knowledge to the best of my ability, I also pride myself in being intuitive when it comes to understanding people (interpersonal skills) with a focus on communicating effectively. Furthermore, throughout my two years of work experience (excluding a one year internship), I have gained sufficient knowledge and experience rendering me suitable for a position where I can utilise this knowledge and implement it practically to the best of my ability. I work well under pressure and always efficiently strive to complete tasks to deliver an end-product of high quality with a hands-on approach. I am determined, hard-working, have strong ethical values and am quite capable of working independently efficient as well as in a team, in a demanding environment. It is essential for me to be able to think progressively in order to ensure an efficient personal as well as workplace workflow delivering a high quality of work. I am capable of making well-informed and concise decisions independently, taking initiative where necessary and allowable and have the necessary confidence in ensuring the completion of responsibilities, regardless of obstacles present. However, I am also a firm believer in teamwork as well as asking for advice or support from more qualified or experienced colleagues. During my two years of post-graduate working period, I have not officially experienced a supervisory role but in cases where I had to take the lead and make decisions based on the specific scenario at hand, I managed to follow through to ensure timeous delivery of quality results. Taking leadership or having leadership skills is also, in my opinion, something that can be developed and improved on in the correct setting. My career objective is to ensure the security of a position within an organisation, where I am able to utilise my knowledge and experience to overall contribute to the working environment in any positive manner possible as well as contribute to the profession.
