I am an engineering graduate currently working as a Process Artisan (Learner) in Sasol Secunda Synfuels Operations. Part of my duties is to ensure safe and efficient operations of the plant. I am always on the lookout for new opportunities and areas of development. I am trained at performing engineering calculations including material and heat balances. I am passionate about the use of engineering software packages such as Aspen in performing complex engineering calculations. I am adept at reading and interpreting engineering diagrams such as material flow diagrams. I have over the years developed the ability to analyse process systems and their performance. I am aware of the importance of optimising systems and how that adds value to business. I am very comfortable working with computers and I am efficient with the use of multiple Microsoft office tools. I am a logical person who thinks critically. One of the things I particularly enjoyed in the engineering curriculum is programming. Particularly the use of programming to solve complex analytical and numerical problems. I am familiar with multiple programing languages. I’m skilled at conducting research and preparing technical reports according to requirements from my engineering curriculum. One of the things I have developed throughout my university career is the ability to learn complex things on my own. I take responsibility to develop skills I need. I am constantly working on sharpening my Excel skills particularly Visual Basic for Applications because it possess the potential to solve a wide variety of problems. Encountering problems and complications spurs me on to acquire more information and learn more. I am an independent thinker and not afraid to question things in the quest to discover better alternatives. However, I respect other people and their different viewpoints even when I don’t agree with them. I truly value the power of people putting their heads together. It’s amazing what can be achieved through collaborative effort. My aspirations is to acquire industrial experience that will advance my engineering/technical skills to the level of professional engineer status. The skills I wish to polish the most is my problem solving skills with safety conscientiousness and sound engineering judgment in mind.
