I am professionally registered and suitably qualified for this position, my health is excellent and I don't intend to retire soon, I am actively involved in sport, cycling, and swimming, I have been involved in design and construction of National routes, K routes and Municipal routes etc, I have mentored 7 Professionally registered Engineers to registration, I am passionate to service delivery and Roads and Stormwater design, rehabilitation and construction is my business. Norman N Swart studied at Pretoria Technikon (now Tswane University of Technology) and gained the MDip Tech (Transportation) in 1991. During 1995 he registered as a Professional Technologist in Engineering with ECSA. Norman has more than 40 years experience to offer in Roads and Stormwater Design, Project Implementation, Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Roads. In his career he also dealt with Traffic Engineering, Environmental Engineering and gained extensive knowledge in Road building materials Message from Norman; He started his career as a learner Technician with BKS Consulting Engineers in 1974, Designing Roads and Stormwater (no Computers those days). In 1979 he left the office to gain site experience for 4 years on National Transport Commission (now SANRAL) N1-19 to 20 contracts, running the soils laboratories on these contracts. January 1983 he furthered his career with Eskom, starting at Megawatt Park and supervised the Construction of various 132KV to 400KV Substations, concrete work, earth works, buildings, roads and stormwater, throughout South Africa. From 1987 to January 1990 he worked as a Senior Technician, Civil at the Camden Power Station in Ermelo. February 1990 he started working for the Springs Town Council in the Town Engineers Department, Roads and Stormwater Design and Implementation section, during 1996 he was promoted to Senior Engineer, Roads and Stormwater and during 1998 he was promoted to Assistant Town Engineer, Roads and Stormwater. During 2004 the 9 East Rand Municipalities amalgamated into the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality and he was appointed as Project Manager in the Eastern Region, implementing Roads and Stormwater Projects until June 2008. July 2008 he was appointed as Regional Executive Manager in Northern Region, Kempton Park, where he is involved in the approval of Designs, Implementation, Maintenance and Project Management of Roads and Stormwater Projects. He has been acting in the Maintenance Divisional Head and the Implementation Divisional Head positions on various occasions. Norman is elected as Council Member of IMESA. Norman is a sport lover and is an adrenalin junkie, he played rugby, cricket, athletics, provincial squash, has 2 comrades under his belt and he completed the Trans Baviaans MTB stage race of 230km in 17,5 hours, Wines2Whales and Sani2C MTB 3 day stage races Norman is married to Elsje, who has a Masters in Social Work, they have a son Niel, Industrial Engineer, daughter Mari, Kinderkineticist, and they live in Heidelberg, Gauteng
