I am currently in the process of finalising my LLM Masters in Tax law (UCT) having previously completed a LLB Bachelor of Law (UCT) as well as a Bachelor of Social Science in Political Science and Philosophy (UCT). In addition to the above I am an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and was employed as an associate at a boutique law firm in Cape Town up until the end of October 2018 I work well both as an independent individual as well as in a team and thrive in a dynamic high pressure environment with tight deadlines. I have good attention for detail; I am open and honest and can be relied upon in all circumstances. I am also highly self-motivated and I am willing to go above and beyond for work as and when required, including travel or relocation should the need arise. The nature of my employment, coupled with my commitments for my master’s degree, has meant that I am accustomed heavy workloads, requiring significant attention to detail and a short turnaround time often requiring I work through the weekends and . My practice ranged from commercial and civil litigation, including contractual disputes, evictions, administrative appeals and insolvency applications, to transactional work including drafting and negotiating sales of business, MOIs, Shareholder Agreements, Business restructurings and Insolvency litigation as well as researching and providing opinions for clients. However, the main focus of the firm’s work was in insolvency matters and the main thrust of my work as detailed above focused on insolvency litigation and business restructuring. The work often necessitated working long hours and into the weekends, balancing work commitments and commitments for my masters. In addition to this I also sourced clients for the firm and attended networking events and belonged to a networking organisation to help me grow my network. I am looking to move to a firm that will challenge me and push my limits and allow me to grow in the field of insolvency law where I can learn from experts in their field. I am dedicated, driven and quick to learn – my goal is to be an expert in the field of corporate, commercial and tax law within 5 years. I have a broad knowledge of the law thus far which I believe, coupled with my ability to work under extreme pressure and my people oriented demeanor with clients, would make me an asset to any company.
