My name is Mkhokheli Dube and I did mechanical engineering at Wits University. Mechanical engineering is a vast engineering field, it has so many opportunities in various sectors which is one of the reasons why I love it there are so many sectors that I can work at once I get the opportunity. Professionals of this field do work that is of high value to human civilisation, doing work that matters is a fulfilling experience and that is something I want to do. There is so much to learn in this type of field, I am more fascinated by thermodynamics and design. Design provides an opportunity to work with a team or colleagues like when we do design projects at school. Mechanical engineering is also about problem solving, one learns the process of solving problems even if they are not engineering related problems. I have done couple of vacation work programmes including a year working in a FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) plant in which I realised the love I have for integrated machines, it was more than what we learn in class it was challenging yet a learning process.
