I am a CA (SA), completing my articles at Price Waterhouse Coopers in Sandton at the end of 1998. My clients mostly included manufacturing and industrial companies such as Toyota, Sentrachem, Karbochem, Crown Cork and Trident Steel. My http://www.******.***. Accounting degree was completed at R.A.U. Cum Laude. I completed my http://www.******.***. (Hons) and CTA at the U.P in 1995. I have a solid background in manufacturing, having worked in the cement manufacturing industry for more than 10 years. At Alpha Cement (later changed to Holcim and then AfriSam), I had worked mainly with detailed costings of products /materials through various production stages, including quarrying, manufacturing and the packing and distribution. My strong points are definitely detailed analysis of variances and solving complex errors or system problems. I also gained experience in preparing Annual Financial Statements for subsidiaries, and detailed reporting to the holding company in Switzerland including budgets, monthly packs, year-end packs and tax packs. I prefer being hands-on in the operation, so as to understand the processes well enough to add value when doing variances and seeing opportunities for savings and improvements. My experience also included financial accounts, SHEQ responsibilities, overseeing the procurement department and stores (consumables, maintenance and refractory stores). Contract management of site contracts was also part of my department’s responsibilities. Valuable experience during the last few years was centered around decision making, planning and advising in a medium sized company, with overseeing of financial functions. Opportunities were identified and structuring of other ventures took place. Intensive cash management was performed on a regular basis with the small management team. I maintain a high standard of business acumen, am highly motivated and certainly thrive on being proud of my work and that of the team I function in. I am proficient in both Afrikaans and English.
