I started my career at Transnet as a Junior Officer in the Management Accounting Department. I then became promoted to an Assistant Manager – Management Accounting position in Shosholoza Meyl which was a division of Transnet (now transferred to PRASA). I was further promoted to be a Financial Manager wherein my duties covered overseeing all the functions in the Finance department including the Management Accounting, Debtors’ Management, Accounts Payable, Supply Chain Management, Information Communication & Technology (ICT), Project Management, Capital Expenditure and Assets. The key role in the financial management position included ensuring the accuracy of the financial statements for corporate reporting and managing audit processes during audit period . I hearded an IT project for Fare Revenue collection system and was successfully implemented and in operation until today. I was promoted at PRASA to a Senior Manager – Management Accounting and Cash position where I undertake duties of preparing monthly and quarterly management reports, preparing the budget for the PRASA Rail division, consolidating regional submissions, presenting the budget to Executive Committee of the division, preparing Board Presentations for the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), managing quarterly, half yearly and year end audits for PRASA Rail. Additional segments currently under my portfolio are Cash Management and Debtors Management. I was a Chairperson for the Cost Containment Committee (CCC), Bid Specification Committee (BSC) and was a member of the Divisional Tender & Procurement Committee (2-year term until March 2015). I have acted in a CFO position for a number of times wherein I gained profound insight for dealing with strategic financial matters. I am currently a director in a practice firm (Business Accountants and Advisory (Pty) Ltd) where I advise clients on their businesses, prepare financial statements, maintain bookkeeping services and tax advisory including filing all the tax returns. I provide strategic advise and assist clients to set up and implement their strategies. In terms of qualifications, I hold a B Com. Accounting Degree acquired from Wits University and an Advance Diploma in Management Accounting acquired from the Chartered Institute of Management Accounting (CIMA). I have completed the Strategic courses of my CIMA qualification and plan to write the qualifying examination leading to Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) in November 2020. I am currently registered with CIMA for continuous development programme.
