27 May 2019 Gordons bay To whom it may concern I was working as a Senior Construction Supervisor with Basil Read on the N1 Bypass in Musina. Basil Read cancelled all SANRAL contracts and all personal were retrenched. In 29 years with Basil Read I have been on numerous building and upgrading of townships as well as rehabilitation and construction of new roads. Townships consisted of water and sewer reticulation, storm water pipes and culverts. Then followed the road foundations and layer works, kerbs and servicing. Most of these contracts were in Natal, Mapumalanga and Gauteng. I have had the privilege of working cross border with Basil Read in Mozambique on the N4 highway from Komatiepoort to Maputa. We also helped build the Mozal Aluminum Smelter in Matola. Then followed the Hillside Smelter in Richardsbay. In the 4 years I worked with Murray & Roberts I worked at Sasol in Sekunda on the Turbo project (Civils) to produce cleaner petrol and diesel. Also worked at the Gautrain project building the Sandton station and also the American Consulate in Sandton. I was the earthworks and plant coordinator on the Natal Portland Cement factory in Oribi Gorge as well as Tata Steel Refinery in Richardsbay. With Basil Read I did numerous roads contracts in Natal, Mapumalanga, Eastern Cape. I moved to Namibia with BR and worked on the Trekkopje Uranium Leaching Platform. Basil Read also built the Husab access road to the new Swakopmund Uranium Mine. I then had the privilege of working at the Tschudi opencast copper mine in Tsumeb as the production manager. With Basil Read and Murray & Roberts I was given the opportunity to train students and apprentices on the practical aspects of planning, programming, maintenance and building and construction on various contracts. I have been working for a fiber installation company (FTTX Africa) and we have completed the contract. My permanent base is in Gordons Bay, Western province.
