I am a scientist with over 3 years of professional research experience in Enzymology, Molecular Biotechnology, Microbiology, biochemical and molecular biological techniques. I recently graduated with a Master of Medical Science Degree, during my Masters and Honours study I gained a lot of knowledge working with different experimental techniques and refined my communication skills through numerous presentations. In my previous role, I gained exposure as I analyzed the functional effects of antiretroviral drug mutations to determine the binding energy in HIV-1 South African subtype C protease. My Specific responsibility was to conduct molecular biology experiments such as PCR, plasmid purification, gene cloning, agarose gel electrophoresis, and protein expression on HIV protease to support the purification of proteins for screening, crystallography, and assay development. Communicated research findings in scientific writing and weekly oral presentations. My skills lie in conceptualizing project ideas, planning experiments, and evaluating test results, as well as in monitoring equipment performance and tracking maintenance schedules. I am highly skilled at trouble shooting and problem solving with regards to scientific experiments. I am sure that I will carry over the same enthusiasm and skill in doing research, as my passion for science continues to grow within your organization.
