I have always been involved or interested in Horses, I rode my first horse and showjumped when I was 10 years old, I started competing at 13, during the times of 1999 – 2003 I was in mainly in Ireland and Wales, during this time 1999-2001 I worked in Cork and that is where I completed my IHS 1 and my BHS 1 & 2. And that was just the studying of it, we had to do all the manual work too. I then moved to Clonakitly, started working there and possibly learnt from the best manager I have ever worked with, who taught me so much, but I did not think unpredictable youngers were part of the deal! Haha Getting youngsters looking like a million dollars was probably the most dangerous job (haha) We would suit them up for prospect buyers for future investments I then decided to come home in December and in January received a call from my previous owner, she is now working for Andrew Davies (international showjumper) I could not turn it down (God lead me there again) So we would look after his horses and keep them fit, MUD, RAIN it did not matter as long as the high-end horses were taken care of and covered. This was also a huge eye opener for me for horses to win – it was a money market industry and sadly I saw some competitors using stoned (I believe now they do boot checks) I even remember one of our 5-year-olds was offered 1 million British pounds, it was turned down due to the fact this horse can make a lot more money when he is 8-9 (Andrews personal horse was 11 and still winning competition I was then in quite a serious accident that put me back about 3 months, I still worked and mucked out etc, with a dislocated , (Drs did not pick up the dislocation for 2 weeks) and broken collar bone. My arm took a long time to heal, I could not ride, My wish and dream is to get back involved in Equine, it was my dream as a teenager and unfortunately life happened. I have been riding with friends over the last decade or so but have a lot of knowledge on Horses and management.
