In my seven years of market-related experience, I learned what is expected of me as a young developing professional. My career started as an intern at the SABC, where I focussed on Account Executive skills. This rare and unique opportunity allowed me to grasp a better understanding of what is expected from me in an industry that tends to thrive in a competitive environment. My employment history initiated by ABV brands. During this time frame, I efficiently manage to complete two certificates (Marketing Management; Financial Independence). My duration at ABV brands meant as I could generate new business exclusively through sales and advertisements. Once I joined CLM, I was proficient in Build strategic working relationships with clients and maintain a high level of client contact to ensure that their specific requirements are addressed. However, the company had exciting challenges, which I openly accepted and solved by using my qualification and working experience. I would analyse potential sales opportunities by using data analyses, segmented research, and information available to identify the attributes most valued by potential clients. However, sadly CLM underwent a corporate restructuring (demerger), resulting in altered values that did not line up with mine anymore, and I had to make a change. I then applied for a position at Smile 90.4fm, moving back into the media as an Account Executive and started working in the position in January 2020. Unfortunately, by April 2020, COVID - 19 negatively impacted South Africa's economy forcing Smile90.4fm to retrench a few staff members taking a "first-in, first-out" approach on retrenchments. I was one of the retrenched staff members. Despite this, I am still very optimistic and remain positive. During the tough time of a global pandemic, I still do believe that there are bigger and better parts that lie out there for me, as Nelson Mandela said: "I never lose, I either win or learn."
