I ran my own communications business in my early twenties completing cutting edge communications projects and mass campaigns for a massive array of anti-apartheid organisations including COSATU, UDF, South African Council of Churches etc. This got me into trouble with the notorious apartheid security police who knew my work was making a difference and challenging their powers. I went into exile in London having had to flee from security police torture and interrogation. In London I continued working for anti-apartheid organisations including British Anti-apartheid, Bishop Ambrose Reeves Trust and the International Defence and AID Fund and the ANC. I also worked in the UK publishing industry for such companies as Marshall Cavendish, Mirror Group and Orbis Publications. On returning to South Africa after the release of Nelson Mandela I worked in a groundbreaking Newspapers in Education project with the Daily News, Star and Umafrika newspapers. Then I worked as a communications manager for a large NGO producing a magazine, running campaigns for voter registration, human rights training etc. Then I managed a massive province wide HIV/AIDS communication and education campaign for the Gauteng Health Department. Since then I have carried on working in media including being the Deputy Editor of The New Age newspaper. I am a seasoned media specialist with very highly developed skills and would be an asset to any company or organisation.
