To whom it may concern, This letter serves as an Expression of Interest regarding potential employment as an Occupational Therapist in 2020. My name is Jessica Baisley and I am 23 years old, currently residing in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. I am a qualified Occupational Therapist working in the province of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. I am currently completing my Community Service year, after graduating in 2018. I am looking to pursue a job opportunity in KZN next year after the completion of my Community Service year. During my first year of work, I have been exposed to working with psychiatric clients as well as physical clients in improving skills and meeting specific goals. I am competent in completing Occupational Therapy protocols and am focused on enabling clients to improve their overall quality of life. With regards to my professional experience, I am currently completing my first year of work as an Occupational Therapist. I am working at a psychiatric hospital, a regional physical hospital and a Non-Governmental Organisation, all located in Pietermaritzburg (KwaZulu-Natal). I am passionate about playing a role in the improvement of client’s abilities to function optimally within their home, school and work environments. I have experience in assessing client conditions, planning treatments and evaluating progress. I am able to collaborate well in team environments and feel that I am equipped with the skills necessary in updating relevant documents as well as the record-keeping of intervention results. I possess a professional verbal and written communication ability as well as being competent in problem-solving and time-management. I believe that I would be a suitable candidate, I am able to handle large caseloads and can ensure appropriate delegation of tasks and time management. I also place a large emphasis on ensuring that treatments are clinically supported and that they will contribute, ultimately, to the best possible outcome for the client. In addition, I strongly believe in the concept of client-centredness, recognising that the inclusion of this principle promotes a wholesome and all-encompassing approach towards therapy. I am passionate about Occupational Therapy and am passionate about doing my best to make a difference in the lives of the people around me. I am eager to learn and can offer an enthusiastic and teachable attitude and would be so grateful for any opportunity to be exposed to any type of learning/training experience. I have had experience in working with various different stakeholders in an Inter-professional team context, such as Doctors, Nursing staff, Physio Therapists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Teachers and other Occupational Therapists. I am excited about the potential that accompanies Inter-professional team collaboration and the benefit that comes along with being able to consult and work with others who have a different perspective to offer in the unique and individual treatment of each client. Kind regards Jessica Baisley
