I am a blended professional at Stellenbosch University who is passionate about teaching & learning and to ensure a transformative student experience in higher education. My current duties include lecturing in the Extended Degree Programme at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Assistant Resident Head (Academia) and Monitors’ Programme Coordinator. My research investigates the relationship between reading speed and comprehension, and the transfer of reading speed from generic to academic texts. I apply this research as a Solution Advisor at Lectorsa, a Research and Development Company which uses the action within the reading process to rewire the brain to produce healthier and stronger minds, a critical factor in student success. These roles position me to manage, mentor and support students in different ways, including creating a more welcoming environment, encouraging healthy social and academic interaction, providing collaborative real-life learning opportunities and facilitating engagement in meaningful educational activities and programmes.
