'm a human resources professional with a husband, 2 daughters and a son. I love life, the outdoors and family, I guess not much different from many women you’d meet, except that I lost 50 per cent of my sight and, since the age of 13, I've lived with loss of central vision making me legally blind. I have Stargardt’s disease, a hereditary eye condition which caused the cells in the centre of my retina to die, affecting my macula and central vision. It leaves me with only peripheral vision. However, it hasn’t stopped me from living life to the full. I've studied and have worked at various companies in Johannesburg, I manage my detailed work using a large monitor with large fonts, and other computer technology with cameras, magnification and text to voice recognition software. Using applications on my iPhone, I negotiate the city independently with a driver or uber and at home I enjoy regular family activities with my family. In moments of free time, I gym, cook and knit. I’ve never not done anything because of my vision impairment, sure I cannot drive a car by myself or play competitive tennis, but what I do have is high intuition and a sense of people. I'm no 'rain-man' or anything, I guess other senses develop to cope when one is deficient in another area. I'm driven, highly motivated and a little competitive, a trait that pushes me to do better and to achieve the best for the company I work at. Strong human resources professional. Strong skills in BBBEE and Skills Development, Performance Management, Training and Development, Policies and Procedures and Recruiting and on-boarding. HR Policies, Consulting, Transformation & Management, Talent Acquisition & Management, Performance & Change Management, Workforce Planning, Employee Engagement & Relations, Team Building & Motivation, Cross-functional Team Management.
