I am Danielle Schaafsma. I am 21 years old and have just finished my BA degree in communications and psychology at the end of 2023. I have a passion for writing, journalism, and photography and I aspire towards a successful career in journalism. During my time attending university, I worked as an office assistant as well as a newsletter writer. I possess excellent writing skills, allowing me to craft clear, concise, engaging pieces and reports. I also have research proficiency and am adept at using online databases and academic sources and conducting interviews. I have a strong analytical mindset, which allows me to assess information critically, show critical thinking in idea formation, and collaborate with other thinkers. I am also flexible and adaptable to different situations, and can easily find my sea legs in a new space and challenge. Additionally, I am proficient in using various digital tools and platforms, including content management systems (CMS), website-building platforms, blogging platforms, social media, and multimedia editing software. I value teamwork and am open to feedback and constructive criticism, always seeking to improve my skills. I am, also, accustomed to working under tight deadlines and can manage my time efficiently. I have experience working in an office setting. For two years I have worked as an admin assistant for a Civil Engineering company where I learned communication, organisation, copywriting, and many other skills. In addition, for one year I have been writing the biweekly newsletters of a health and wellness company. With this task I not only wrote the newsletter, but I set up a website and mailing system.
