I have worked in the claims environment where I had to learn much about not only insurance claims but about life, the experiences of each and every individual within the company as well as about how different and diverse our country is, from dealing with our huge clientele base. I have thoroughly enjoyed learning about what insurance is all about and learning how to deal with persons individually as no person has the same experience. I have grown a great deal with regards to expanding general knowledge, as an individual and what my personal strengths are. The skills I have gained , is verbal communication and conflict handling; telephonic interaction; how and when to negotiate; how to multi task in a pressurized environment; learning how to interact with clients as well as my peers; learning to pay attention to certain details and ensuring excellent quality of work; how to solve problems and coming up with solutions by probing for further information in order to gain a better understanding of what the problem is and then being able to make rational judgments from the available information; how to manage my time efficiently and effectively; building up on business acumen. I have learnt to take responsibility for my actions, projects and people; I have learnt how to take the initiative and work under my own direction; from my experiences I am able to make quick, clear decisions which may include tough choices or considered risks. My department, recently went through a huge transition where many consultants were relocated to other departments resulting in an under geared team. I had to self-train myself and have taken part in helping my new team members from my own experience and knowledge from various aspects which I gained in my time with the claims team. I work hard and it shows in the extra hours I put in when needed. I actively take part in giving feedback and suggestions in how to better improve the department, the system as well as to individuals within my team to increase their knowledge on how to better their knowledge and dealing with clients and suppliers
