Our parents gift us names that will hopefully empower , guide and navigate us to greater altitudes through our life with the meaning they carry. At birth we already don't walk alone – our names lead us into the presence of our ancestors who never leave our site from than onwards. My name is Chulumanco which means joy. that is a gift of utmost joy in my life but for the longest it felt disconnected to many chapters of my life. You might be asking yourself what does this have to do with design , advertising or my career path. Communica- tion is about sharing ideas and feelings to successfully send a message therefore a form of connection must be adhered to serve the purpose of the message. In my recent self-discovery, I've come to realise that my name, our names carry us through establishing paths and a purpose with what it needs to serve. I had to go back to the roots of the gift my name carries to instill a passion in me, much greater than one that is only self-fulfilling but use my passion and purpose to create a connection culture that fuels the human and society at large. Connection culture is my cornerstone to find my ground and space in design, it is enriched by creativity, communication and community – a symbolism of how I apply my mind in every process of conceptualisation. I believe that we have an obligation outside of our identity that will help us create and contribute something, ideally one that would be of advancement to society. We all have designated purpose and sometimes it does not come at an early glance of our life, it takes ground work. For me this is my ground work to introduce and establish myself. I am currently doing freelance work as a Conceptual Designer by applying my mind in community development. My current main focus at the moment has been developing and creating an outreach program for Primary school kids within my surrounding rural communities that will assist them through their childhood development. I believe in advocacy for change in communities whether it is picking up a piece of paper or offering food, shelter and clothes to those in need – any act of change. I've recently joined UNICEF as a volunteer to be able to enhance my research and development for my outreach program. I aim to be part of a working environment that is human centred whilst also using my knowledge to help implement projects that enhance my working envi- ronment and also keep me grounded as a dedicated employee that is always open to learning and accepting new challenges. The past few years of freelancing and mentoring teenage girls have instilled hard work accompanied by working smart, dedication, efficiency and consistency which have shaped how I carry my responsibilities that will allow me to find my ground in the work space. I'm a team worker that is open to being led and also lead through my capacity of knowledge in creative thinking, conceptualizing and strategic development. I aspire to work in a working environment that advocates for social change that is rooted in community culture but also implements development which has a foundation of humanitarian work that will instill growth within myself and my working environment. I look forward to hearing what my skill and knowledge can bring into your company.
